Dilyana Kurdova - טיולים לרחבי העולם

Dilyana Kurdova belongs to the younger generation of teachers of dance folklore in Bulgaria. She met the folklore of the Balkans as a member of the first recreational dance group in Bulgaria which is associated with the Bulgarian national ensemble Filip Kutev. During her bachelor's studies in Greece she danced for over 7 years in the ensemble of Zografou, a district of Athens. Her passion not only for Bulgarian, but also for Greek dances led her to Dick van der Zwan (Netherlands), whose official pupil she is at present.

Dilyana is native to Varna, Bulgarian region Dobrudža. There she completed the master study cum laude in Bulgarian choreography under Prof. Petăr Angelov, the choreographer of the ensemble Varna. She is currently working on her doctorate with the topic of  transformation of  Bulgarian dances in recreational groups under the guidance of Prof. Georgi Garov and Prof. Nikolaj Cvetkov at the University of Blagoevgrad.
For the annual folklore seminar at the Academy of Music, Dance and Fine Art in Plovdiv, Dilyana works as the main coordinator and also as assistant to the seminar program run by Iliana Božanova.

Since 2010, she is often a guest lecturer for Bulgarian and Greek folk dance in various recreational folklore groups all over Bulgaria and is also active as a juror at various folklore competitions in the country. As a dance teacher, Dilyana frequently travels to the Netherlands and Belgium, and she has also taught in Switzerland and Germany.
She is engaged in the exploration and analysis of authentic Bulgarian dances and is also a passionate collector of folk, embroidery and basically everything that has to do with the roots of this culture. In her classes, she presents dances, which she has collected throughout Bulgaria or learned from different teachers and colleagues.

Dilyana is a highly motivated and empathic teacher with lots of knowledge about the dances, their music and backgrounds. She has an eye for style and performance and explains clearly and in a  structured manner. Through their open and inspiring nature, her seminars have a very nice atmosphere. Her classes present a variety of regions, styles and degrees of difficulty, adapted to the needs of each group.
